WashU Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences is excited to relocate to its new research space this summer in the McDonnell Medical Sciences Building (MMSB).
The 24,500 net assignable square foot (NASF) project aims to relocate the department from multiple floors in McMillan Hospital to one collocated open lab floor in MMSB, promoting research collaboration.
The new space will accommodate open wet lab areas, lab support facilities such as tissue culture, darkrooms, microscopy, and equipment rooms, as well as conference rooms, faculty offices, and open collaborative workspaces for staff. This strategic space reallocation will lead to more efficient facility use, optimize space allocation, provide flexibility and high-quality space for research, and plan for the department’s future growth.
