McMillan Hospital, built in 1929, is a 179,865 building-gross-square-feet mixed-use building featuring laboratory, office, and clinical spaces. The project team has begun planning for five coordinated projects over five years, including infrastructure upgrades, replacing outdated systems, and improving safety.
Additionally, the project will focus on maximizing the floor plate to improve operational efficiency, particularly by incorporating open lab and office suites. This phased approach will allow for systematic upgrades while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.
The project scope will include the following components:
- Upgrade and restack building mechanical systems
- Building automation
- Plumbing sanitary stacks
- Storm and wastewater
- Electrical, fire, and security life safety systems
- Building envelope, tuck pointing, and window replacement
- Service elevator modernization
- Fall protection
- Generator relocation
- Interior renovations where renewal is needed, or infrastructure requires wall, floor, or ceiling intrusion
- Support sustainability using industry best practices
- Restroom upgrades with current ADA and building code improvements
- Create elevator lobbies to meet the code for a high-rise building
- Lactation rooms and single-occupant restrooms are to be added on every other floor
- Several shell floors
