Building Campus Connections

Building Campus Connections is campus plan to integrate educational services, expand clinical space and improve research and service facilities while continuing to build a cohesive, collaborative environment on the Medical Campus.

The intersection of the Medical Campus and the Cortex innovation and technology district at the site of the Neuroscience Research Building is the epicenter of the campus’ future growth and connections with the surrounding community.
PHASE 1

Phase 1 of Building Campus Connections, completed in 2019, renovated and built over 1.2 million net assignable square feet and invested $288 million in the center of the Washington University School of Medicine Campus. This investment improved the density and connectivity of workplaces, education spaces, housing, pedestrian walkways, and service offerings to help drive talent, attract growth, and strengthen the economy of our community.

PHASE 2

In order to fully realize the School of Medicine’s strategic vision by 2024, Phase 2 of Building Campus Connections will build on the success of Phase 1 by growing campus research facilities to better connect and collaborate with the technology and innovation community, creating health care facilities to treat and learn from those with complex health issues, reinventing how learning is facilitated on campus, and increasing accessibility and parking across our community.
